Downtown Development Site,
Los Angeles

As part of a group project, this portion of the site was solely designed and executed by me.

The development site sits across from the Walt Disney Hall in Downtown Los Angeles. The program of the site is that it be an extension of the urban forest with an interactive playground and garden promenade.

The design metaphor of the site is based upon plants, which draws from the site analysis and adjacent cultural institutions, or the roots of “The Vine.” Along a stem, or main pathway are a series of program leaves that quench Downtown LA’s thirst for open green space and intertwine them with opportunities for play.

It ultimately centers on flowers - or focal points for reflection and growth - in the form of plazas, spaces for social gathering and community.
